From ESPN:
Allen Iverson, fully recovered from a partially torn hamstring, made his Grizzlies debut Monday and then rejected any notion that he'll accept coming off the bench full time.

"I had no problems with the hamstring. I had a problem with my butt sitting on that bench for so long," Iverson told The Commercial-Appeal.

According to the newspaper, when a reporter suggested that the Grizzlies' youthful and offensively challenged bench desperately needs his scoring punch, Iverson shook his head in disagreement.

"No. I'm not a bench player. I'm not a sixth man," Iverson said. "Look at my resume and that'll show I'm not a sixth man. I don't think it has anything to do with me being selfish. It's just who I am. I don't want to change what gave me all the success that I've had since I've been in this league. I'm not a sixth man. And that's that."

I wasn't a fan of the signing when it happened and the Grizz clearly did this to improve ticket sales.

I am shocked that this is happening 1 game(for him at least) into the season, was this not addressed when they signed him?

Who would he like to replace? Mayo is definitely better than him at this point, and I personally would prefer Conley at the point especially since AI doesn't pass.

The Grizzlies are a mess! Overloaded with ball-hogs, how is Rudy Gay suppose to develop with AI/Zach Randolph around him. I thought they had a real nice young team until they brought these two clowns to town.

Don't get me wrong AI is a future Hall of Famer, but he just isn't good for young teams and too much of a problem with his career coming to an end. Honestly, does anyone take a chance on him after this stint with the Grizzlies(and it's just begun) or is this the end of his career?

Its the end of Iverson.

He talks about all the places he started but one thing that they all have in common, he never won the BIG ONE!!!

Til then, its put up or STFU...

I say they give him 5 basketballs with his own 8-foot goal, and set him up in the corner of the gym with his own cameras and commentators....

....and he'll still find a reason to complain about playing time. And let's not eeeeeven think of bringing up the subject of practice....

Everybody who follows basketball know about AI. When he bacame available, Detroit was pretty much the only team to bite on it, and that did not work out. The owners of Memphis knew what they was getting, and they knew the personality of AI, so dont sign him and complain when he acts the way AI acts, we all know how he is.

Secondly, Memphis wanted AI for one reason, to sell seats. Like him or not he is one of the few players in the league that sells seats by himself, if you dont believe that go back and look at the attendance records of when he was playing on the road. Also Miami, New York, Clippers and Charlotte all tried to get AI, and if you notice one thing about those teams, they are trying to fill seats. AI is who he is. Memphis signed him so dont cry for them when they have to deal with his personality. Hell they signed Zach Randolph as well, so dont go around crying for memphis when they made the deal, how many folks go out and buy a cat and want him to bark,

The Washington Generals have a nice fat contract waiting for him with plenty of playing time.

They are the Grizzlies, Rich, no doubt about that. Understand also, the good teams he played on; look at the rosters yourself, weren't a ton better than where he is now.

AI will average 24+ w/ this franchise if he remains reasonably healthy. Why wouldn't he?As BA says, this cat has ALWAYS been AI, what's the fuss?

All of us watched him HANDLE LA all by his lonesome, we ALL SAW THAT...

WE ALL KNOW he's a HOF in this league, AND IS A TOP TEN SCORER when healthy...

WE ALL KNOW he'll make shots most guys IN THE LEAGUE, much less 6' and under CANNOT imagine...

HE WON'T LEAD THE LEAGUE in assists, but check his career assist stats before blanket proclaimations of a black hole, not to mention TRYING TO ESTABLISH, OUTSIDE OF DETROIT, F I V E SCORERS TO PASS TO...

After that crap last night, he'd look pretty darn good in a Bulls' uni in the 4th[fire away,fellas]...
